UPDATE – 23 Oct 14 – I have now updated all the Caixa sound files to have a slow version and a faster version. In addition, all the new versions repeat 10 times. This will give you the opportunity to play along with them when you practice.
Most of the material played by Caixas (snare) in a samba band is played evenly hand to hand. i.e. RLRL RLRL RLRL RLRL or reversed for left handers. Accents are placed (played more strongly) on certain beats to provide distinct patterns to fit in with different rhythms.
