Archive | The New Samba
How New Samba Begins:
After the entry finishes (final bom bom)
– surdo 1 and 2 begin playing
– The snares do 4 more hits da da da da
– The snares then play takaraka 4 times
– At the end of the 4 takarakas, surdo 3 begins its short push and the tams also begin their entry. (bells join them over the first bar)
– Once the tams entrada is finished, all instruments begin playing

Mocidade Break
This break is played in either Fred or New Samba. The vid below is different from the way we play it as it has three repeats. Also, the tams play virado at the end of each sequence in this vid.
